Day 40: The day began with a transaction from Jo's ATM in Doolittle
Park, Birchwood, WI. A short ride day to Hayward, WI for Kevin and
Alan. We caught up to them for lunch at the B-D Cafe where "friends
meet to eat" (so we did), and afterwards we saw cute little round
carrots at the farmers market in the parking lot. After choosing a camp
site at the KOA in Hayward, WI, we went into town. Kevin wanted to
check out the New Moon ski shop where I bought new carbon-lite x-cou
ntry
ski poles at 60% off (been looking for a good deal for over 5 yrs -
yay). We arrived at the Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame and Museum at
3:40pm. Online it said it closed at 4:00pm. Online it failed to mention
that there is "no admittance to the museum after 3:30pm". Bummer! So
we took pictures from behind the security fence. Since we couldn't get
into the museum it was too early for dinner so we had afternoon adult
beverages at the Moccasin Bar, which has some freaky fun dioramas. The
bartender recommended the fish fry (the Friday night fish fry seems to
be a common Wisconsin thing) at the Trailways Inn and Supper Club (he
said it was just two miles away). So off we went ... we finally got
there eleven miles later ... we were ready to participate in the all you
can eat Friday night fish fry! Happy full bellies! by Jo
